Create a Site Baseline from a Property Address

Use an address to retrieve the mapped OpenStreetMap exterior building footprint, confirm the property and calibrate the outline before equipment placement.

7 minutes5 stepsVisual + written guide

BEFORE YOU START

  • Complete service address
  • No map account or API key required
  • One known measurement when precise scale matters

WHAT THIS IMPROVES

  • A usable starting point when no floor plan exists
  • Estimated site dimensions
  • A cleaner background for device and route markup

WRITTEN WALKTHROUGH

Complete the workflow step by step.

01

Enter the service address

Open Site Reference, enter the complete street address and choose Generate Address Outline.

Why this mattersPlan Studio makes one deliberate address search and requests the mapped exterior building footprint. It does not use autocomplete or require a customer provider login.

02

Frame the correct property area

Zoom up to 10× and adjust horizontal and vertical focus until the building, parking or exterior area needed for the design is centered.

Why this mattersPlan Studio recalculates the visible width and height from the selected focus so route estimates remain tied to what is actually shown.

03

Verify the mapped exterior building outline

Confirm the OpenStreetMap outline matches the intended property before placing equipment.

Why this mattersOpenStreetMap does not contain every street number or building. If the match is wrong or missing, upload the customer plan instead of inventing an outline.

04

Calibrate with a known distance

When a precise field measurement is available, compare it with the estimated plan dimension and adjust the full-plan width or height.

Why this mattersMap-derived dimensions are estimates; a verified wall, aisle or property dimension improves cable takeoffs.

05

Save the baseline

Name the site reference, save the draft and continue to equipment placement.

Why this mattersThe project saves the normalized OpenStreetMap footprint with its required attribution. Upload the customer plan when you need interior rooms, doors or field-verified construction detail.

COMPLETION CHECK

Confirm the result before moving on.

  • Correct building or property is centered
  • Visible dimensions change when focus changes
  • Optional compass points to true north when added
  • Baseline is saved with the customer project
